My family background is … English/Scottish/Irish/Canadian – hence the pale skin and red hair! I recently … released my first album Place Called Happy that I recorded with Gordie Johnson (Big Sugar, Grady) in Austin TX at Willie Nelson’s studio; I just completely my first national tour with Big Sugar and I was given the opportunity to host my own show on Boom 97.3 in Toronto. I host the weekend show from 12pm-6pm Saturday and Sunday. People don’t know this but … I have never dyed my hair. The only way I would ever tan is if all my freckles banned together… AND … I make a mean pumpkin pie and throw a “pumpkin pie party” every year (where I bake up to 18 different flavours of pumpkin pie). It’s a very good time. I try to make others feel beautiful by … being curious about who they are and what makes them tick. I learn so much from those conversations and I think it makes the other person feel heard, interesting and beautiful. I love leaving people little notes or dropping off a bottle of champagne at their doorstep just ‘cause. I hope to bring to the fashion world … sass…smarts…and sexiness at any size! If I could tell a young girl anything I would say … surround yourself with people who believe in you and spend time discovering who you are. If you follow that with confidence your dreams will come true. Don’t be so hard on yourself and if you need help, ask for it. In the modelling world I would like to see more … diversity in sizing. It’s just as easy to make a sample size 14 as it is a 2…so why not have all of us up there? I challenge the beauty ideal by … not trying to be a size 8 when my body has proven to me time and time again that it’s not comfortable there. Every day I try to be grateful for what I’ve got and take care of it as best I can. My favourite quotation is … “When you know better, you do better.” – Maya Angelou. This comes in handy so often. We’re always so hard on ourselves and for those times that we are, it’s good to just take a deep breath and repeat that quote. My ultimate modelling job would be … to work with Kate Spade or Stella McCartney because I love, love, love their clothes. I also certainly wouldn’t turn down walking in Paris Fashion Week – what a city that is!!
